Champions Club Special Needs Resource & Job Fair

On Saturday, August 24th, the Disability Comic Con family participated in Champions Club Special Needs Resource & Job Fair at Lakewood Church. This annual event is a staple in the disability community boosting over 20 vendors who all have a mission that is focused on enhancing the lives of those with a disability. Many of the attendees were able to learn about available resources in the area including camps, schools, therapies, and fun activities.

Champions Club Resource & Job Fair

Champions Club is a disability ministry at Lakewood Church with a mission to minister to kids, teens, and adults with special needs and the medically fragile. The annual event started over 11 years ago and has over 90 Champions Clubs in schools, churches and facilities all around the world (What is Champions Club, 2024). There are four important pillars (spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical) to Champions Club to meet the developmental needs of individuals with special needs providing resources and information about jobs to the public.

Our DCC event vendor representative Colton Saville was on standby to meet and greet with visitors. We were able to discuss Disability Comic Con and share that we are an organization with a mission to provide inclusive events for those with visible and invisible disabilities who love pop culture. It was great to share with parents that our main purpose is to have fun in a safe space that is welcome to all.

Disability Comic Con was able to mingle with many of the vendors and get information about the services that they provided. The information gathered from the event can be found on our new resource page that includes the title of the organization, a brief description about the organization, and a link to their website.

We are proud and honored to be part of such a wonderful community and to interact with those who make a difference in the world of servicing those with special needs. Thank you Champions Club for allowing us to participate in your much needed and received annual resource event!
