On September 11th, the Disability Comic Con committee kicked off a new meetup group for moviegoers and cosplay lovers. We scheduled a cosplay movie meetup at Star Cinema Grill in the City Centre. We had an open invitation to all to enjoy the second installment of the phenomenal movie Beetlejuice.
Beetlejuice first came on the scene in the late 80s and was a movie like no other - a cosplayer's dream. It told the story of a gothic girl, Lydia Deetz, who lost her mother and had to come to terms with moving to a new town with her father and eccentric artsy stepmother. This movie picks up where the previous film left off, giving us all kinds of feelings from the original. A standout performance by the original Beetlejuice, Michael Keeton, who looked identical to the character from almost 40 years ago. Winona Ryder, Lydia, Catherine O'Hara, and Delia also gave a stellar performance. The father, Charles Deetz, played by the late Jeffrey Jones, made a unique appearance with the addition of goth princess Jenna Ortega. We enjoyed the movie nostalgia and even took pictures with audience members who raved about us going all out for the film.
Disability Comic Con will continue to have cosplay movie meetups and invites you to come along. Our next meetup will be to see Joker, and we welcome all to this inclusive event. Text 281-407-1662 to contact us for a date and time to meet. Our meetups happen at City Centre Star Cinema Grill in Houston, TX.
